Doug Gillis' 1954 GMC |
| Doug bought this truck for $300 back in 1983 and has almost completed the restoration process. The original color was forest green and it was painted GMC Teal, inside and out, in 1991. The truck spent quite a few years waiting at one auto restoration place due to a drinking problem the auto body guy developed! Eventually Doug towed it over to a sober auto body guy and it was done within a month. |

Doug's friend Russ came over on weekends for about six months to rework the entire electrical system. Since our friend Russ is one of those EXTREMELY RELIGIOUS types, Doug had to have a strong desire to get that darned truck's rewiring done - he was converted to Christ about 150 times! |
| This Jimmy is used as an every day driving truck because Doug has gotten past the "first scratch" - he uses it to pick up and deliver tools for his Northern California area tool business. It has its original motor and most of the truck has its original parts. |

During the electrical restoration, Doug chose to update the turn signal system. The inside of the bed is done in a teal and white Zolatone. The upholstery was redone in a plain brown, but Doug thinks its a heck of alot bettter than having springs coming up through your back pocket.
